Both Cheetahstar and our previous medicine cat Watermint are now gone, so there's a lot new going on in RavineClan. We could use more cats, but overall we're doing pretty good!

The War is over, but is the danger past?
For many long season, a great war raged between the four Clans. Kits were murdered in their sleep; apprentices were slaughtered after only a few dawns of training; warriors were lucky to live to recieve their first apprentice. Clans went through leaders in a short matter of dawns instead of seasons. Finally, four leaders decided to end the War and save what remained of their Clans before all four Clans fell to injuries or illness. With the threat gone, the Clans began to grow again.
But does the threat remain, or is the peace permanant?

She bounded up and down, unable to stop herself from dancing around her mentor. "Um...we could practice hunting! Or we could practice fighting! Or we could patrol the territory! Or..." she trailed off, taking a deep breath, realizing that her mouth was running away from her. "Probably hunting," she said, finally making up her mind. "After all, the clan needs more prey then ever with the addition of your kits," Sunpaw commented with a purr. "I wonder what they will like when they get old enough to get fresh-kill, my favorite is vole, I havn't had a vole in awhile. I bet we could get alot of prey if we go out now," she said confidently.

Eveningrain let out a mrrow of laughter. "Okay, okay," he meowed. "I'll tell you what: we'll just try to have a bit of everything here and there, but we'll probably be out all day," he warned. "So, let's get moving. And yes, the Clan could definitely need some more fresh-kill... Where is the best place to find vole?" he asked, suddenly, deciding to throw some questions in, too.

Crimsonstar let out a little mrrow of laughter, happiness grinning in her green-gray eyes. "Oh yes, it must be a sign of StarClan! They are so adorable.." Crimsonstar sighed, all happiness yet half-longing, having loved kits ever since she first became a warrior. She had wanted some with her entire being, yet she was chosen by StarCLan for deputy and, eventually, for leader..."They are so beautiful..."
Whitekit stretched in his little moss-nest, before hearing his father and Eclipsedkit. "Da!" He meowed, before realizing that he was training Sunpaw. "Oh." He whispered, his light yellow eyes dancing. "Eclipsedededkit!" For he still couldn't pronounce his sister's name. And with that joyous call, leapt on top of her, his black tail twitching happily behind his.

Sunpaw furrowed her brow in concentration, racking her brain for the answer to his question. "Well they live on the ground, so probably in bushes and logs, where there is alot of cover and they can hide easily," she answered, thinking completely rationally, looking at him hopefully with dark brown eyes to see if her thinking was correct.
She brightened at the sound of being able to do a little bit of everything, purring deeply. "Great, let's go! I'm ready when you are!"

Eveningrain nodded. "Yes, but by water, too," he reminded her. "Voles like to live close to water, so we'll go down to the ocean and check there. We can catch more than just vole there, anyway." Without another word, the tabby tom dashed into the forest, lean back legs expanding and contracting as he raced, eyes shining with exhilaration. He loved this covered space, this forest, where he could run and find a challenge in dodging things along the way. He moved quickly and with agility, and stopped only when he reached the break in the trees and the line of sand that made the shore. He turned and waited for his apprentice to come to the break, hoping he hadn't left her too far behind.
Eclipsedkit grinned, his tiny teeth showing. "Whitekit!" he mewed, then growled. "You're a emeny intruduh," he tried to hiss, though more of a laugh came out than a hiss. "Stay away from TwealClan!" He crouched, rear stuck up in the air, tail flicking back and forth with concentration.
Cindernose nodded. "Indeed," she meowed absent-mindedly. She shook her head. "Do you have any ideas for mentors yet? I mean, I know it's a long way off, but..." She trailed off. "It's always good to think ahead, you know?"

"Haha! You's goin' down!" He yowled, before pouncing unskillfully onto Eclispedkit, his light eyes twinkling mischeviously. ((ARGHWUHBEE))
Crimsonstar tilted her head, her eyes half-closing as was an odd habit of hers. "Yes, good point, Cindernose. As always, thinking for your leader, who doesn't think as often as she should." She gave her friend a sly grin, before turning back to the matter at hand. "Well, I do think that Eclispedkit should be mentored by Flamescar, though I'm not too sure why. And Wolfkit should be mentored by Lostmoon. Whitekit could be mentored by Poppytail...after that, I have no idea." She chuckled good-naturedly, looking at Cindernose with the affection from friend to friend.

Eclipsedkit squealed as he was pinned to the ground. He wriggled out from under his sibling and stood, panting and grinning. "You...you...BwookCwanner!" he growled, as well as a kit could, at least. "Get out of my ter'torrrie!" He gave a battle cry and leaped at his sibling, trying to bowl him over, little kit paws outstretched.
Cindernose purred. "Well, I was only curious," she mewed. "Those sound like very good mentors; they all have quite a bit of skill and would help those kits along their way in apprenticeship on their way to be warriors." She nodded. "And young Sunpaw doesn't have much longer as an apprentice, either. Eveningrain's done a fairly good job with balancing her, Inkpool, and his kits. Such a pawful!"

Sunpaw's eyes widened in confusion as she watched her mentor sprint off into the distance after his comment on vole's habitats. She sat there for a moment, a little dumbfounded, but then a grin spread over her features and she took off after him. Her heart pounded in her chest as she ran faster and faster, a reddish blur across the landscape. Her paws pounded against the ground, churning up dust as she ran. She finally spotted her tabby mentor, obviously pleased with himself and waiting for her. She slowed to a stop, pleased to note that she had no difficulty in regaining her breath. Her training must have paid up.
"Next time, warn me," she said with a laugh, her eyes bright with enthusiasm. "Or were you scared that I was going to beat you?" she said jokingly, her eyes shining with amusment.

Whitekit's black tail was wishing behind him before he was bowled to the ground, trying to growl fiercely but laughing too hard to accomplish it at all. He stumbled back to his paws, light yellow eyes twinkling. He leapt and missed, rolling on the ground, before laughing and trying to attack Eclipsedkit again.
Crimsonstar smiled, thankful for Cindernose's advice. She nudged her friend happily, a grin teasing her expressionate face. "Are you looking forward to training Windpaw?" She asked curiously, her striped tail flicking behind her before deciding to rest next to Cindernose's. In truth, Cindernose was the only friend that she really had...

Eveningrain laughed. "That," he mewed, "is for me to know and you to find out. Now, how do you stalk the creatures around here? And what type of prey will we find here, near the ocean?" He looked out at the shining sheet of water, breaking at the shore ever so often. It was beautiful, the sun's reflection glinting off of it... He sighed happily at the sight. He couldn't wait until he could bring his new family out here to see this amazing sight. Maybe he could get Sunpaw to help him out with bringing them down here after their training session if Inkpool wanted to join him...
Cindernose smiled warmly. "I feel that Windpaw truly has the gift of a true medicine cat," she meowed. "I believe that I will find it to be a pleasure to train her. She's very well-behaved, speaks her mind... Yes, I will enjoy training her, and she will be a fine medicine cat for TealClan." She tilted her head slightly. "When are you planned on taking on your next apprentice, Crimsonstar?"
Eclipsedkit laughed as he watched his sibling fall to the ground, then was suddenly under the same one's paws with an oomph. He grinned, mewed, "I'm gonna get 'chu!" and tried to push up on Whitekit's belly with his hind paws.

Sunpaw glanced around the ocean shore, searching for hints. She had never really been to the ocean before this. In fact, TealClan was the first place she had been with this abundance of nature. Life on the streets with her mother was a different story. Sometimes she wondered how her mother was getting along. Sunpaw didn't really feel any bitter feelings towards her, but it was sometimes hard to be in a clan filled with kinship and her on the outskirts.
She had drifted off for a moment before she snapped back to attention. "Um..well vole should be here," she said with a grin. "Seabirds and crabs are also abundant by the ocean. Since there isn't much cover, the best tactic would probably be to use speed and stealth across the sand."

Eveningrain nodded. "Good," he meowed. "Now, for the sand." He placed a paw into it and watched some grains fall onto his paws while he felt them slip out from under his paw to let it sink. "You have to remember that it will be harder to cross than just the forest floor. It's like it's trying to hold you back, so you're going to have to use more strength pushing off with your paws than you normally would or you won't be nearly fast enough. But sneak up as far as you can until you feel comfortable with running. So..." He flicked his tail towards a seagull about twenty tail-lengths down the shore and crouched low. "Try to stalk that seagull. Remember what all I told you and be careful."

Sunpaw nodded at his lesson, her chocolate brown eyes flashing with anticipation of the challenge ahead, turned away and began creeping over to the seagull. Seagulls were big birds to a small apprentice like herself so she would have to be extra careful to either injure it so it couldn't fly away or kill it in a single blow. Eveningrain was right, it was hard to keep her paws treading lightly over the sand, she had to summon her strength to keep her cinnamon colored paws on the top of the sand. She continued to creep up to the seagull, taking a deep breath, and finally bursting into a run. The seagull turned around and began to flap its wings so she took a flying leap and bowled it over on to the sand, clawing its wings as she did so. The seagull attempted to fly away but she killed it off quickly. Her flanks heaved as she drew in deep breaths after her exhausting pursuit but her eyes were shining with pride.
She triumphantly grabbed it with her jaws and waled over to Eveningrain, the wings scraping against the sand as she pulled it over, purring as she came closer.

Eveningrain was left purring as well. "Very nice!" he meowed to her as he eyed her catch. "And that was a big one! Very, very nice! Next, before we cover voles, since they'll be the easiest, we'll cover fish." He gave a glinting grin. "Come over here." He moved towards one of the rock formations that was beside the water and leaped up onto it. He crouched and eyed the water carefully, then let a paw flash down into the sea. The paw came back up with a fish in tow, which he killed with a swift bite as soon as it was on the rock. He looked at his apprentice. "This one is much trickier," he warned her, "and I'm not expecting you to really and truly master this one on your first try." He looked down into the water. "See the shadows? These fish love those shadows that these rocks make. They'll go under them every once in a while, and then that's your time to strike. You'll have to scoop your paw down as fast as you can while trying not to create much of a splash or a wake. Now, while you're scooping your paw, make sure you scoop the fish out onto the rock while you're doing it! Give it a try." He moved over so she could have better access to the water. The fish were seemingly abundant today, so Eveningrain figured he could have her catch a fish and then they could go on to the next bit of prey.

She moved over to the edge of the water and crouched down low so that her belly was skimming the rocks slightly. Her tail moved back and forth as her eyes flickered over the water, keeping on the lookout for any "fishy" shadows. A shadow darted under a rock and her paw shot out into the water. She felt the slippery fish slide out of her paw as she was bringing it up and splash back into the pool. She retracted her paw, looking disapointed and waited for the water to settle again. When the surface looked like glass, she resumed her search, not one to ever give up. Again she saw a shadow and reached in with a cinnamon paw, scooping up the fish like her mentor had demonstrated and flipped it onto the bank, its mouth gasping for breath as it flopped in vain on the rocks. She killed it quickly and smiled. She loved hunting, when she was a warrior, she could spend days on end just on hunting patrols.
She looked up at her mentor. "That was harder then I thought, the fish sure are slippery," she commented with a laugh, surveying her kill, obviously pleased. Her mother would have been proud to see Sunpaw able to hunt for herself, a pride that would have come from a want to see Sunpaw independent and not from love.

Cloudkit smiled mischievously after witnessing his brother, Whitekit's, actions. He let out a small battle cry and charged after his siblings, tripping a few times. Finally he leaped onto both of them (just barely) laughing uncontrollably. "I's gots yous alls!" He cried as he continued to laugh.
Moonfeather scoffed at the stupid little kits. Shouldn't their mother be teaching them to speak properly? It reminded her of Nightrain..."Hey!" A voice far too familiar sounded, sending a chill down Moonfeather's spine. "What're ya' doin' sittin' here all by yerself?" He held a wide grin on his face as he spoke. "Don't you have other cats to bother?" She sighed, irritated. Nightrain's smile plunged into a frown of the same size. "Well that ain't a nice thing ta' say." He replied, not really as upset as he appeared. "'Specially ta' one of ya' clanmates. Ya' s'posed ta' be nice to all of ya' clanmates, right?"
